Like most of you, we have also been affected by this. Our Cali had a leaking toilet flap. VW has now finally confirmed in a technical product information (TPI 2077468/1) what we have known for a long time: The service flap to the toilet can leak. Vehicles built before calendar week 06 2025 are affected.
The reason for this is the adhesive and primer used at the time, which apparently do not provide a permanent seal. In the worst case, the wooden frame under the flap swells or starts to rot. Great.
What is done during the repair
If the frame is already soft or the flap is leaking, this is the official measure:
Flap out
Thoroughly remove old sealant
Apply new primer
new bonding with material from Sika
Replace the flap
Replace the frame if necessary
Clean preparation is particularly important here. Residues from the old material or greasy surfaces will otherwise quickly lead to the same result again.
Which parts are replaced
If necessary, the following parts will be replaced:
Wooden frame: 7C4068155A
Service flap: 7C4810001A
Bonding is now done with Sikaflex 221 and Sika Primer 217 and the whole thing is fixed with simple adhesive tape from Tesa. The factory has been working in exactly the same way since calendar week 06 2025.
What does that mean for you
If your flap is damp or the frame already feels soft, you should visit the dealer and take the reference to TPI 2077468/1 with you.
