TPI 2077468/1 – Service flap leaking

< 1 min read

Problem:

In vehicles from Grand California up to and including calendar week 06 2025, leaks may occur at the service flap to the toilet. This is caused by a component-related deviation in the seal in conjunction with the adhesives and sealants used up to that point. As a result of the leak, the wooden frame may swell or rot in the installation area.

Series application:

From calendar week 06 2025 there will be a changeover to new adhesives and sealants from Sika. All vehicles before VIN WV1ZZZSY1S9042279 are affected.

Solution:

The service flap is removed, the sealing surfaces are completely cleaned and prepared again. Primer (Sika 217) is applied to the cleaned surfaces. Then bond again with Sikaflex 221, paying attention to the adhesive height, width and length.

If the wooden frame is damaged, it will be replaced (part number 7C4068155A). The flap itself can also be replaced if necessary (part number 7C4810001A). After gluing, the flap is fixed in place until the adhesive has completely hardened. Finally, a functional test is carried out.
