(Grand California Facelift only)
In service measure 91UD with process number 2080660/1, Volkswagen describes a problem in the energy management of the Grand California Facelift. In vehicles from a limited production period, the starter battery and the supply batteries may not be charged correctly.
Validity of the measure
This service measure applies exclusively to Grand California Facelift models. Whether a vehicle is affected is checked via ELSA Pro.
Problem description
According to Volkswagen, the following anomalies may occur in affected vehicles:
- The starter battery is not charged when charging via shore power
- The supply batteries are not charged while the engine is running
The problem concerns the interaction between shore power, driving and energy management.
Technical background
Volkswagen cites a faulty configuration in the energy management system as the cause. In some cases, a faulty potential distributor, fuse holder SH, is also installed, which impairs the correct charging process.
Remedy according to service measure
Depending on the vehicle equipment and findings, the following measures are planned:
- Adaptation of energy management in the control unit for special functions
- In addition, for certain vehicles, replacement of the potential distributor, fuse holder SH
The measure is divided into two criteria:
- Criterion 01: Adapt energy management
- Criterion 02: Replace fuse holder SH
The work required depends on the respective vehicle status.
Duration of the measure
According to Volkswagen, the duration of the service measure is between:
- approx. 30 minutes if criterion 01 is implemented
- up to 90 minutes, if criterion 02 is also required
