GrandCali.com A contribution on our own behalf

When we started this site almost exactly two years ago, we could never have imagined what a project GrandCali.com would become.

In January 2023, we started recording the number of visitors and views and what can we say… we were able to celebrate one million views today. 1 million views! Once again: 1 million!

With your help, it was possible to implement many exciting projects and try things out. Thanks to our reach, manufacturers and companies have become aware of us and supported us in our projects, which would never have been possible without you. THANK YOU!

This has brought some nice privileges, but also a lot of trouble! So we are on a kind of blacklist at the manufacturer, where GrandCali.com is not perceived as an enrichment for the community, but as a threat. Because as you know, we often go where it hurts. Not least because of the site, we have a legal dispute that has been going on for 1.5 years now.

Meanwhile, GrandCali.com takes up a lot of time and work. We receive emails and comments from you every day with questions and suggestions. It’s simply wonderful, but also a second full-time job. The goal was never to make money with GrandCali.com, it was simply to contribute to the community and express the joy and love for Grand California.

For some time now, we have been writing under our posts that this is a leisure project and that there are costs involved. The monthly operating costs currently amount to over 400 euros!!! Crazy for a simple little website.

This incurs costs for a lawyer who checks the site for legal and warning security, server rental, cookie queries, licenses and much more. With the current number of visitors and an increasingly complex project, the current server is once again reaching its limits, no, it is already beyond its limits. This results in extremely long loading times and, unfortunately, downtimes. We can cover some of the costs with Amazon affiliate links and Google Ads revenue, but it’s not enough. The necessary server update will increase the costs by another 100 euros per month.

Now we ask ourselves whether GrandCali.com can and should be worth 500 euros a month…
