LED rear lights – Grand California / VW Crafter, MAN TGE

I’ve been toying with the idea of wrapping or glazing the rear lights in our Cali for some time now, so that the black look blends in better with the color concept.

The problem is that neither foiling nor glazing of rear lights or headlights is permitted in Germany.

So for a long time, this thought remained just that – just a thought.

Until Litec launched LED tail lights for the VW Crafter and MAN TGE about two months ago. Black, just as I had always imagined them – and the best thing about them: they have E-approval and can therefore be installed legally and without registration.

Without further ado, we decided to fit the rear lights to our Cali 🤩. You can read how to do it here.

P.S.: The whole operation is done in 10 minutes 🥳

Step by step assembly guide

The first step is to loosen the two fixing screws of the original rear light. To do this, simply open the rear doors of the vehicle.

On the right-hand rear light, the two screws are located on the left-hand side of the housing; on the left-hand rear light, they are mirror-inverted on the right-hand side.

You will need a Torx T25 to loosen the screws.

Once the two screws have been loosened, the rear light is ready for removal. It is only held in place by two plug connections.

To release it, simply pull the rear light carefully backwards at the top and bottom at the same time.

The plug connection must now be disconnected. The rear light can then be easily removed.

You can then take the opportunity, as I did, to do a bit of cleaning behind the rear light 🧽😅

The new rear lights are simply installed in reverse order ☑️

No adjustments to your Cali are necessary, no error is displayed, for example that a bulb is defective.

Where can I get the parts and how much does it cost?

Now you’ve read through the article, are totally enthusiastic and really want to have the rear lights? No problem …

However, there is one small catch: they are not exactly cheap. They cost around 585 euros.

But there is a small ray of hope: we are running a promotion in our online store until Sunday, June 8th. With the code rear light you get a 5% discount on these items.

Simply add it to your shopping cart and use the code above at checkout.
