TPI 2045236/2 Service note: Electrical system: DAB+ reception is faulty

< 1 min read

A frequently reported problem with the Grand California is interference with DAB+ reception. VW has issued technical product information on this, which attributes the problem to electromagnetic sources.

Possible sources of interference in the vehicle:

– USB car chargers (e.g. from third-party providers)

– Smartphones or cordless telephones (DECT)

– Mobile navigation systems from the accessories trade

– 12V accessories such as USB adapters, cell phone holders or lighting equipment

– Industrial devices such as crane controls or other radio remote controls

Background:

Electromagnetic waves from these devices can interfere with the radio’s DAB+ reception.

Solution:

This is currently the standard state and no specific measures have been published by VW. However, users can try to reduce or remove possible sources of interference in the vehicle in order to improve reception.
