It’s now been 4 weeks since our first GC Adventure meeting at the Outdoorschmiede in Melbeck.
Peter was very kind to us and we were able to enjoy sunshine for almost the entire weekend.
100 Grand California found their way to tranquil Melbeck. The participants came from all over Germany, the Netherlands and even from Austria and Slovakia.
It’s not easy for me to put this text into words properly. I, or rather we, are still overwhelmed by the impressions, the joy and the stress associated with this meeting. At first, we didn’t realize how much work goes into an event like this. At times, it really pushed Silvie and I to our mental limits. Not only our normal job, but also our small online store and this website kept us completely busy. The days seemed short, very short, and in the end we ran out of time. But thanks to our great helpers and sponsors, we were able to pull this event off in the end.
I think I can now say it with 100 percent certainty: the whole event was a complete success 🥳.
The enthusiastic voices clearly outweighed the critical ones, and that is what counts for us in the end. It simply makes us happy that this commitment has paid off. It not only makes us happy, but also a little proud.
A few impressions
The saying “pictures say more than 1000 words” is also completely true in this case. However, as I am really passionate about photography, I didn’t get around to taking any great photos or pictures. But thanks to Lisa, we were able to collect these great impressions:
Highlight electrical workshops
My personal highlight was the electrical workshops that Bendix organized for a good cause. Two sessions covered everything to do with electricity. Basic questions were asked in the beginners’ workshop and more in-depth discussions took place in the advanced workshop. The two workshops were originally planned to last just under 2.5 hours, but in the end Bendix was busy for almost 4 hours.
Thanks again for your commitment, Bendix!
As Bendix wanted to offer the workshops free of charge, but we were of the opinion that this knowledge should not be given away, we collected 20 euros per workshop participant. We topped up the proceeds of 857 euros to 900 euros and donated them to the SOS Children’s Villages.
The Cali Check - from Home of Cali
In the run-up to the event, we were able to secure a sponsor for our event, Home of Cali. Ben and Kai went to every Cali on the site at our meeting, checked it using a checklist they had drawn up themselves and made the completed list available to the owners.
Unfortunately, they found what they were looking for on almost every Cali, but this probably prevented a lot of costly consequential damage.
Wlan supply
As the cell phone network coverage in Germany and especially in Melbeck is not particularly good, we were very happy to be able to provide a stable Wi-Fi connection throughout the entire site with Kontor Connect. The start-up from Lübeck traveled to the event with its mobile transmitter mast and was able to provide the entire site with a fast internet connection thanks to satellite internet – which meant that all Instagram stories could be uploaded 🥹.
Rear carrier from H32 Design
In the run-up to the event, participants had the chance to secure a fitting appointment with H32 Design on site. The guys came all the way from Linz in Austria and embellished one or two Cali cars on site.
And now?!
The most frequently asked question during the meeting was certainly: “Will you do another meeting?”
The day before the meeting, we would have said: “No, definitely not.”
During the meeting, we said: “We’ll think about it again.”
Four weeks after the meeting, we say: “Yes, we want to organize another event.”
But no longer in the Outdoorschmiede, this event, in this special place, should remain unique. We have a few ideas in our heads and as soon as it becomes concrete, you will find the information here as usual. But you can also sign up for the newsletter now to make sure you don’t miss any information.
One important change at the second event will definitely be the ticket allocation. We made it very complicated at the first event with a waiting list. We will no longer do this in this form. There will be a first come, first serve option. But more on that when the time really comes.
Even the press had a bit of interest in our event ❤️
Many thanks to Marcel Baukloh from 4B Medienverlag OHG.
