App recommendation – DPF Monitor for VAG

Today I would like to recommend a simple but super informative app to you. If you like to keep an eye on the status of your vehicle and have always wondered when the DPF (diesel particulate filter) needs to be regenerated, DPF Monitor is just the thing for you.

The app costs 6.99 euros and shows you the current status of the DPF in combination with an OBD dongle.

You can get all the important information at a glance:

  • Distance since the last regeneration

  • Time since the last regeneration

  • Quantity of ash

  • DPF temperature

A percentage bar shows when the DPF is full and regeneration starts. In the screenshot, the DPF was 99% full.

As soon as regeneration starts, the DPF symbol in the app lights up red and you can see how much ash is being burned per minute and how long regeneration has been running. The increased DPF temperature is also clearly visible. As soon as the DPF has reached between 20 and 30% again, regeneration ends automatically.

The app supports vehicles from the VAG Group, i.e. Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat, and is compatible with a wide range of engine codes. If your engine is not yet included, you can even take part in the beta program to extend support.

All you need to get started is a supported Bluetooth or WLAN OBD2 adapter, the connection to the app and the selection of the appropriate engine type in the settings. You then have a full overview of your DPF at all times.

The app is available for iOS here: DPF Monitor in the App Store

You can find a suitable OBD dongle in our store: Veepeak OBDCheck BLE
